Black Beans with Garlic and Chile Pepper


Ingredients

1 (16 oz.) package dried black beans
1 small onion, diced
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
½ tsp. The Spice Hunter Granulated Garlic
1/2 tsp. The Spice Hunter New Mexico Chile Pepper
salt to taste

Preparation

Follow directions for soaking black beans on package. When finished soaking drain beans and set aside. In a stockpot over medium-high heat add vegetable oil and onion. Cook for about 2 minutes. Add beans to stockpot and cover with water to 3 inches above beans. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat and simmer for about 2 hours or until beans are a desired texture. Add water during cooking to keep at 3 inches above beans. When beans are done, remove lid, increase heat and boil until thickened. Add garlic, chile and salt to taste before serving.
