RECIPE STORY

When cool weather starts to set in, the desire for aromatic, spiced drinks is quick to follow. Pumpkin spice lattes, with their comforting aroma, are a sure sign that fall has arrived, and holiday parties wouldn’t be complete without batches of nutmeg-rich eggnog to accompany spiced cakes and cookies. Take the warm, aromatic notes of your favorite cold-weather beverages to new levels with Spiced Apple Sangria. This spiced sangria recipe extends the lifespan of traditional summer sangria by incorporating autumn’s ripest, juiciest apples and The Spice Hunter Pumpkin Pie Spice for a cocktail that’s certain to enliven fall and winter gatherings.

Pumpkin Pie Spice – a blend of cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and more – isn’t just for pies. The fall-inspired blend is essential to creating a simple syrup with layers of autumnal flavor that pairs exceptionally with the apple juice and fresh fruit in this apple sangria. Once the simple syrup is complete, just combine the spiced syrup with velvety Chardonnay, triple sec, brandy, and apple juice in a large pitcher. Add diced apples, pears, or a mix of both to the pitcher and chill, allowing plenty of time for the juicy fresh fruit and spiced flavors to mingle. Serve your Spiced Apple Sangria over ice and garnish with The Spice Hunter Cinnamon Sticks to add additional sweet flavor.

If you’re feeling particularly ambitious, make a double batch of the Pumpkin Pie Spice simple syrup and give your guests the option of white Spiced Apple Sangria or red Apple-Pomegranate Sangria.
