This recipe uses the following spices:

Basil Lemonade


1 cup sugar
4 cups water, divided
2 tsp. The Spice Hunter California Basil Leaves
¾ cup fresh squeezed lemon juice


Combine sugar with 1 cup water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat, add basil and let steep 5 to 10 minutes. Strain basil from sugar syrup and discard. Let syrup cool to room temperature and then refrigerate until cold. Combine syrup with remaining water and lemon juice. Serve over ice.
